Toronto is one of the most diverse cities in the world. It moves and breathes in its own vibrant tempo, creating a safe haven for artists of all eccentricities. Dancers of  all genres flock to this city to spread their wings – literally and figuratively – and together they make Toronto an even more beautiful place.

Snoopy – Dancers of Toronto

1. What is your earliest memory of dancing?

It was in the 3rd grade, my teacher made us learn the Cha-cha and the Waltz because we were so rowdy. So she taught us these dances to channel our energy in a constructive way. These are partnering dances so the boys and girls in my class made a fuss about holding hands, but we got over it lol.

2. Could you please share a bit about your dance training and aesthetic?

During high school I joined a Hip-hop dance troupe and would compete and train in that style. I was always intrigued by other dance dance styles and wanted to be the best dancer I could be. I went to George Brown College and got Musical Theatre training along with Ballet and Jazz. Later I attended The School of Toronto Dance Theatre for contemporary dance training and graduated. My vogue is very much influenced by my dance background along with many Vogue Legends (Leiomy, Dashaun, Prince….the list goes on)

3. What inspires you as a dancer?

I am an introverted person, so I believe through dance I can tell my greatest stories and show my deepest feelings. I also love the feeling of being on stage. Being a music lover also inspires me to dance.

4. Why does dance matter?

It is an art form that is like no other. With no barriers dance can influence and change the world. I also believe that dance brings people together in a positive way.

5. In your opinion, what is special about the dance scene here in Toronto?

Because it is so multicultural here the dance scene is so vivid. Canada also embraces these cultures making our dance scene to diverse.

6. What are some things that you’d like to see change/evolve in our dance ecology?

I would like for people to be aware of all the amazing scenes there are in this city. We also need to build more bridges amongst the different scenes and support each-other. We would be so powerful if we just opened our eyes a realized Canada has a lot to offer.

7. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

On a yacht sipping champagne lol. Touring the world dancing. I also see myself in Film both behind and in front of the camera. Choreographing for a motion picture. And the list goes on…
